Marhaba Jordan

Marhaba, it means hello in Arabic! The H-Team, as we refer to ourselves, has been in Jordan for about 1 month and we are learning many things. We have learned much about the culture, religion, customs, and some Arabic. Following is a brief intro about each of us and where we will be working.

My name is Darren Henke. I grew up in Missouri, and attended congregations in Rolla, Springfield, and Kansas City. I graduated from Missouri State University with a Bachelor of Arts in History in 2005 and attended Ambassador Bible Center in 2008-2009. Aside from the volunteer work I will be doing, I look forward to learning more about the history of Jordan, as well developing insights into the local culture and religion.

My name is Amber (Warren) Henke. I grew up in Washington and attended Sedro-Woolley, Bellevue, and Tacoma congregations. I graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology in 2008 and then attended Ambassador Bible Center in 2008-2009. During my stay in Jordan, I'm hoping to learn more of the language (Arabic) and develop a deeper understanding of the need for God's Kingdom.

We met at Ambassador Bible Center in Cincinnati, and were married the day after graduation: May 25th 2009. We are excited for the opportunity to serve at the YMWA Center for Special Education for the 2010-2011 year.

I am Stella Helterbrand, and I am most recently from Cincinnati, Ohio. In 2005 I attended ABC, after graduating college with my bachelors degree in business. The adventures that will come over the next 10 months are going to be exciting and I am looking forward to my time here. At the Amman Baccalaureate School (ABS) I am working in the finance department and helping with volleyball.

My name is Amanda Hendee and I am very excited to have been chosen for Youth Corps Project, Jordan for 2010. I will be helping out with the Marketing program and Basketball at the ABS. We are also looking into teaching English at a refugee camp. I am 26 years old and just graduated ABC in the spring. I was baptized in June of 06. I have a degree in business and a minor in music. Some of my passions include singing, basketball, spicy food, and thrill seeking adventures. I love to laugh and have a good time and I'm sorry that's generic but its true. I hope everyone enjoys reading our Jordan 2010 blog!
